The Camperdown Theatre Company is celebrating 70 years this year, and they are performing the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical South Pacific to celebrate.

South Pacific premiered on Broadway in 1949, the same year as Camperdown Repertory Society’s first production. The plot centres on Ensign Nellie Forbush, a young navy nurse as she meets and falls in love with a gallant Frenchman, Emile de Becque, during World War II. Set on a tiny island in the South Pacific, the effects of war and prejudice are felt by the vast array of characters.

Six performances of South Pacific will be staged: September 14, 15, 20, 21, 22 at 7.30pm, and a 1.30pm matinee on the 23rd.

Tickets are now available at Laffs, 163 Manifold Street, Camperdown; by telephoning 5593 1469 (cash, cheque and credit card) or by going online to www.camperdowntheatrecompany.com.au (credit card only).

Admission is $30 for adults, $25 for students/concession, $20 for children (15&U), and $90 for a family admitting 2 adults and 2 children.

Ticket sales support the continuation and progression of the performing arts in our local area, including supporting the Theatre Royal refurbishment.
