WinterWild Festival - Death
From Friday 10 August 2018
To Sunday 12 August 2018
Hits : 57

LAST GASP - FIRST BREATH
Death - August 10th-12th

Quietus - Friday 10th 7pm

Apollo Bay first appeared on a map as a whaling station – as dark and brutal a beginning as can be imagined. In its later incarnation as a fishing village it mourned many souls lost at sea. In a church perched overlooking the mercurial ocean, The Quietus is a musical meditation on the awesome power of the sea and the life and death it brings.

The Subject - Saturday 11th 6:30pm

Part sound art walk, historical art lecture and installation exploring the birth and death of romanticism, The Subject is a live artwork that uses fire, water, lights, sound and performance to depict a sublime vision of a dystopian future. Do not leave your car until advised. The paths are dark, the fires burn and at the end The Hunt awaits you.

The Sacrifice - Saturday 11th August 6:30pm

Everything has its price. As long as anyone can remember, the people of Apollo Bay have paid an annual tribute. In the depths of winter, when souls are battered and spirits are at their lowest ebb, a sacrifice is made. It is to ward off Winter’s worst and speed the arrival of Spring. This year the sacrifice will be a big one; a dear one. From the harbour to the brazier, join the procession and count the cost.

Laughing Death - Saturday 11th August 8:30pm

Romy Vager Group (RVG) hit Apollo Bay’s oldest venue The Mech with their tight, incisive post-punk/retro-pop infused with a liberal dose of downcast catharsis, confessional lyrics and downright infectious hooks. RVG are joined by local favourite, ex Vasco Era front Man Sid O’Neill and some very special guests.
